About BotPaper

BotPaper.com is an online wallpaper search engine; here you can find any wallpaper you want, any category (with the exception of adult content). When you search wallpapers, you can filter the results by keywords, color, resolution and/or website.

This is an automated website. We use a robot to capture wallpapers, but we do not host any of the wallpapers listed here, we only store information related to them and a thumbnail (not the wallpapers themselves). Because of this, in order to download the wallpapers, you have to visit the original website that hosts the wallpaper.

To accomplish this goal, we have developed a robot that crawls the web looking for new wallpapers and indexing them. It works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and several times a day it adds new wallpapers to our database.

If you are webmaster, you can find useful information about us here.

How to add my website?

You have to contact us, your website may or may not be accepted (the reasons are hard to explain here, but it's mainly because of certain technical restrictions to parse some websites in order to get the information required).

How to remove my website?

Before you make this decision, you should know that this website does not host the wallpapers. When the user finds the wallpaper, they are redirected to your website (we do not hotlink); we are just a search engine.

You can contact us, providing proof of ownership of the website (you can edit the robots.txt file and give us notice of that, or upload a little text file requesting us to remove the site from our index and give us notice of that). If you do not provide proof of ownership, we will try to contact you using the contact form or the official e-mail address on your website.

We are very flexible, but we need to follow this process because we need to know that you are the real owner.

You can also block our bot by its User-Agent —Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; BotPaper/1.0; +http://botpaper.com/about)—, but the wallpapers previously indexed by our robot will stay in this site. If you want to remove them, please let us know and we will do it as soon as we can (and we will prevent BotPaper from crawling content on your site again).

What are histograms?

An image histogram is a graphical representation of the tonal distribution in a digital image that can be used as an aid to show the distribution of tones captured.

BotPaper (our robot) generates 4 histograms; these represent the distribution of the colors red, green and blue. The last one represents the distribution of luminosity of the wallpaper.

The horizontal axis of the graph represents the tonal variations, while the vertical axis represents the number of pixels in that particular tone. The left side of the horizontal axis represents the black and dark areas, the middle represents medium grey and the right hand side represents light and pure white areas. The vertical axis represents the size of the area that is captured in each one of these zones.

The histogram for a very dark image will have the majority of its data points on the left side and center of the graph. Conversely, the histogram for a very bright image with few dark areas and/or shadows will have most of its data points on the right side and center of the graph.
